When you decide on the eSIM plan you want. Complete your purchase. Once purchased, you'll receive 2 emails, an order confirmation email and a seperate email containing a QR code with simple activation instructions.
3. Scan & Activate
When you land in any of the Airports in Africa our eSIM supports, connect to the free Airport Wi-Fi. Once connected, scan the QR code in your eSIM email, turn on data roaming and start using your eSIM right away!

A: A eSIM is a digital prepaid SIM card designed for use while traveling overseas. If you have an eSIM compatible device. A: Yes, you need an unlocked mobile phone to use our Africa eSIMs. Locked phones will not work with SIM cards from other networks. In most cases, mobile phones now come unlocked by default from mobile networks. Please check with your Mobile network if your device is unlocked.

- 🛜 Land & Connect To Wi-Fi You'll need a strong Wi-Fi connection before you scan your QR code. Ensure you connect to free Airport Wi-Fi.
- 🤳 Scan & Connect Once connected to Wi-Fi, Scan the QR code in your email. Then, go to your phone settings and switch 'Data Roaming' to 'ON.'
- ⌛ Wait for Activation You should receive a welcome text from the local African country you are in informing you of a successful activation 🎉

To directly call or text African mobile numbers, you must download the app called 'Skype' or something similar. This app will use the 4G data in your Africa Travel SIM to make the direct call within the African country your in.
For example, to call or text a mobile number in South Africa, dial +27 followed by the South African mobile number within the Skype app.

- Download the 'Skype' app, then, go to the keypad within the skype app and do the following:
- Calling a South African Mobile number: +27 16-333-7777
- Texting a South African Mobile number: +27 16-333-7777
Important: This guide is ONLY for customers who need to call a direct mobile number or landline number within South Africa. Alternatively, the easiest thing to do is to use apps like Whatsapp, Instagram, FB Messenger, Viber, Line, WeChat ect. All these apps allow you to make calls and texts to anyone in Africa using your mobile data. You'll be pleased to know that a significant amount of African countries rely on apps like Whatsapp, WeChat & Line to communicate with each other.
