To activate an eSIM, you need to simply connect to Airport Wi-Fi and SCAN the QR code in your email confirmation. Ensure you have an unlocked mobile device, and you'll be able to use eSIMs with ease.

Q: Can I purchase my King Sims or eSIM in advance?

Answer: Absolutely! Both our King Sims & eSIMs can be purchased from up to 1 year in advance. We have customers who purchase their SIMs more than 1 year in advance.

Q: What networks does King Sims connect to?

Answer: Your SIM or eSIM automatically connects to the strongest available network that we have partnered with. King Sims partners with Tier 1 Mobile networks. So you get the best possible coverage and speeds wherever you are.

Q: Does King Sims also sell SIM cards?

Q: Are there any hidden roaming charges using a King Sim?

Answer: Never. With King Sims, our physical Travel Sims and eSIMs are all Pre-Paid. Meaning you only pay once off for the plan you need and that's it. No more expensive roaming bills!

Q: Do I need an unlocked phone to use an eSIM and a Travel SIM?

Answer: Yes, you need an unlocked mobile phone to use all our Asia Travel SIMs and eSIMs. Locked phones will not work with SIM cards or eSIMs from other networks. In most cases, mobile phones now come unlocked by default from mobile networks. Please check with your Mobile network if your device is unlocked by calling them or checking online.

Q: Will I lose my Whatsapp, Contacts or Phone Number?

Answer: For eSIMs - If your phone supports eSIM technology and dual SIM feature. You can easily add our eSIMs to your device without affecting your home SIM, contacts, whatsapp ect.

Q: How do I find out if my phone is eSIM compatible?

Answer: On our eSIM products, look for the "Check eSIM Devices" button to see if your device supports eSIM technology. Alternatively, you can also google your device to see if it supports eSIM.

If your device does not support eSIM, please visit our SIM card products to get a Travel SIM delivered to you before you leave.

Q: Are there any disadvantages to using a SIM card over an eSIM?

Answer: The main disadvantage of using a physical SIM card is that it requires you to swap out your existing SIM card, which may be inconvenient for some users. Additionally, if your phone does not have a SIM card slot (such as some newer models that only support eSIM), you will need to use an eSIM instead.

Q: How do I activate my King Sims eSIMs

📱 Check Device Compatibility: Not all mobile devices work with eSIM technology. Tap the button labelled 'eSIM Device List' on the eSIM product page to see.

👉 Pick eSIM plan you want:  Whether your travelling to Hong Kong or Thailand, USA or Europe or any of our 200+ destinations we have plans catered to your needs.

📲 Receive your eSIM QR Code:  Once you checkout, you'll receive 2 notifications: 1) an order confirmation email and 2) email with your eSIM QR code to scan when you arrive overseas.

🛜 Land & Connect To Wi-Fi:  You'll need a strong Wi-Fi connection before you scan your QR code. Ensure you connect to free Airport Wi-Fi.

🤳 Scan & Connect:   Once connected to Wi-Fi, Scan the QR code in your email. Then, go to your phone settings and switch 'Data Roaming' to 'ON.' Wait for Activation:  You should receive a welcome text from the local country you are in informing you of a  successful activation

Q: Do I need internet or Wi-Fi to activate an eSIM?

Answer: Yes. eSIMs cannot activate without a strong internet connection. Airport Wi-Fi and 4G data is the ideal speeds to activate an eSIM.

Q: Can I activate my eSIM outside of my destination?

Answer: Yes. Our eSIMs can be activated outside of any of your destination countries it supports. Keep in mind your mobile data will only work when you arrive in the country the eSIM supports.

Q: I'm travelling solo. How do I scan the QR code to activate the eSIM from my device.

Answer: You can activate your eSIM by yourself using these 2 methods:

🍎 iOS One Tap Install: If you have an iPhone with iOS 18 or later, we’ve included an iOS one tap install link in your eSIM file and email. Simply tap the button after landing and connecting to Wi-Fi to automatically set up your eSIM without scanning any QR code.

🤖 Android Gallery Scan: To scan an eSIM QR code stored in your Photos or Gallery app without needing a second device, you will upload the saved QR code image directly inside your phone's eSIM setup screen. From there you can activate the eSIM by holding the Image and selecting the option that comes up.

⚙️Manual Activation Code: Every eSIM comes with a manual activation code which you can use instead of scanning. Simply add the code once you are adding the eSIM and select "Add details manually"

Q: How can I call local businesses overseas?

Answer: For our SIMs & eSIMs that come with a mobile number, you can simply use the calling & texting feature included with the SIM to make that call. For our data only SIMs & eSIMs Use VOIP apps like Viber, or contact businesses via WhatsApp or email.

Q: Will I still keep my WhatsApp number and chats?

Answer: Yes, everything stays exactly the same. Your number, contacts, and chat history are preserved automatically.

Q: I have an eSIM, Can I receive calls and texts on my home number while overseas?

Answer: Yes you can. use your home SIM alongside the eSIM to receive calls and texts as normal.

Most carriers allow this by default, but we recommend checking with your carrier before you travel – especially if you rely on one-time passwords. Incoming texts are usually free, while calls or outgoing messages may incur roaming charges depending on your carrier.

Q: How do I make domestic calls & texts within the country I'm in using this eSIM?

Answer: Most of our Travel SIMs and eSIMs come with International calls and texts. For example; Our Global Orange travel SIMs comes with 15 minutes of international calls which Is the perfect amount of minutes to make calls with hotels confirm bookings and reach out directly to people. Just be sure to include the country prefix code to make the call or text.

Important: This guide is ONLY for customers who need to call a direct mobile number or landline number within the local country they're in. Alternatively, the easiest thing to do is to use apps like Whatsapp, Instagram, FB Messenger, Viber, Line, WeChat ect. All these apps allow you to make calls and texts to anyone in Asia using your mobile data. You'll be pleased to know that a significant amount of Asian countries rely on apps like Whatsapp, WeChat & Line to communicate with each other.

Q: Can I use messaging apps to make calls & texts within my destination?

Answer: Yes, you can use your 4G data to make calls and texts through apps like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, and others. This is a great way to stay connected without additional costs. We highly recommend our travellers to use this for our Travel SIMs and eSIMs since it's the easiest way to communicate with people within the country and overseas.

Q: How can I make direct international calls home using this eSIM?

Answer: Some of our Travel SIMs and eSIMs come with direct international calls. For example our Orange SIMs all come with an international calling and texting feature built-in to the SIMs & eSIMs. Covering almost 190+ countries, this allows your to easily direct call any number from your home country.


For our other SIMs that do not come with international calls or texts, we recommend using a VOIP app like Viber, are affordable options. To call any number using your data, simply load your account with credits to make the direct call.
